Straddling Condé-sur-l'Escaut, a commune within the Regional Nature Park, and Saint-Aybert, this site’s mining past is clearly evident. Slag heaps, ponds, reed beds and wet grasslands have been much affected by mining subsidence and water-pumping-station activity. | |
| This vast complex of wetlands, covering 670 ha (200 ha of which belong to the Nord department), contains particularly remarkable fauna and flora.
